
A New shop, called Clockwork Dragon, opened this morning where the Abingdon Shoe Shop once was, on Bath Street.

The Mayor of Abingdon, Cllr Helen Pighills, cut the ribbon to open the shop officially at 11am.

Peter, sporting the latest in Steampunk ‘Victorian’ fashion, has previously traded on markets, selling Fantasy, Gothic, Steampunk, and Sci-Fi products. A shop, in his home town of Abingdon, is the next step up.
Planted, cared for, and watered

The blooms that have been planted, cared for, and watered by the Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council outdoor staff have made a fine display this summer.

The newest feature in 2015 are the hanging baskets and raised bed at Roysse’s Court.
Electric Traffic Lights – One Hundred and One Years On

Google have an animation, today, to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the first electric traffic lights.

101 years on, resurfacing continues on Drayton Road in Abindgon between 10pm and 6am, and Oxfordshire County Council has asked the contractor to put in electric traffic lights to allow two way traffic at St Helen’s Wharf –

after the anarchy of the weekend when people were asked to drive a few miles round, and didn’t.
The six week deadline for Old Abbey House has gone

The six week deadline notice, attached to the railings of Old Abbey House, has been removed in the last 24 hours.
It notified community groups that they had six weeks to register an interest in taking over the property. They would then have been given four and a half months to put together a bid.

If there have been no expressions of interest, Old Abbey House will be put back on the market by the Vale of White Horse District Council as ‘surplus to requirements’.

So could the gardens – an integral part of the Green Flag Award winning Abbey Gardens – one day be shut off from public access?
