The 3rd Abingdon Food Festival was held at Rye Farm Meadow this year.

The event was organised by Abingdon Rotary Vesper. Alan Rickman (pictured here) organised their publicity, and managed to get a lot a people to come along even though the weather was wet at times.

One of the star turns was a shiny lorry full of the latest in kitchen equipment, with some demos. This was organised and sponsored by Dream Doors (the Stert Street Kitchen specialist),

Then there were rows of gazebos where you could buy takeaway food. We enjoyed the freshly cooked samosas, and Pujabi cuisine from Sufi Spice. They let us stand in the back of their gazebo to shelter from the rain.

Other tents were selling food to take home, or concepts such as ‘how to live life on the veg’.

The Abingdon Food Festival is a great way to try new food and get new ideas about food.

Both the Sun and Mirror had different ideas of what might follow a vote to leave the EU. Most of the Tabloids (Sun, Mail, Express, Star) have sided with the Leave side throughout the campaign. Only the Daily Mirror has been on the Remain Side.

Polling Stations were kept fairly busy here in Abingdon, as we put our cross on the voting paper: Leave or Remain in the EU.

Meanwhile, on the eve of the apocalypse, there was the official reopening of the Old Anchor Inn, at St Helen’s Wharf in Abingdon.

There was a warm atmosphere. The bar has been redecorated and looks bright. Bar staff brought round canapes. Good luck to them.

There are not as many posters as you might get during a General Election here in Abingdon. But the decision of the electorate is far more important.

In the UK over 40 million people have the right to vote, nearly 30 thousand of them in Abingdon.

We have heard all the arguments. The politicians and newspapers and businesses and unions have all had their say. Should we leave or remain in the EU?
