Abingdon Sports to Close

Abingdon Sports
It was Halloween today and a local shop have a closing down sale. Abingdon Sports supply a wide variety of sportswear and equipment. The staff also have a lot of experience. Pumpkin Hunt

Pumpkintide
This has been a bumper year for pumpkins. They are being sold in large amounts at Waitrose, Tesco, and at Peachcroft Farm.

Even Fabulous Flowers have had a display of pumpkins.

These pumpkins are in a wheelbarrow on Francis Little Drive.

There is an Abingdon Facebook group dedicated to doing a Pumpkin Hunt. Trick or Treating will need to be a little different this year, and they have a list of roads where people say they have put out a pumpkin display.

These pumpkins are in Hermitage Road.

The most famous pumpkin was turned into a coach for Cinderella, and turned back into a pumpkin when she failed to get home in time.

Abingdon Artists in Christchurch Barn

The Abingdon Artists’ Autumn Exhibition 2020 is being held until October 31st in Christchurch Barn, Northcourt, and is open 10am – 4pm everyday.
Abingdon Artists
On the way in is a tribute to Josie Chapelle, one of the founding members, who has helped many new artists with her teaching skills and experience. The Abingdon Artists welcome all levels of artist.

This exhibition also has the work of some talented sculptors.

The exhibition has the usual Covid-19 precautions, rather like a shop: wearing a face mask is required, as is hand sanitisation; visitors are limited to ten at a time; contact details are taken through the the NHS Covid App, or paper slips; and there is a one way system.

Abingdon Lions got more requests for help this year but with fewer opportunities to raise funds

Abingdon Lions
In a normal year I would see the Abingdon Lions at a number of community events. But not this year.
Abingdon Lions
The money they raise from such events goes towards community projects. A lot of the defibrillators in town are funded by them and installed with their expertise.

Abingdon Lions have got more requests for help this year than usual but have had less chance to raise funds. People who would like to support the Abingdon Lions can do so through a justgiving page.
