Newspapers had headlines about snow chaos elsewhere in the country.
Here in Abingdon there was some light fresh snow. This picture of East St Helen Street early yesterday morning shows what snow there was. Most of it has gone again now.
The early morning traffic from South Abingdon is there whether there is snow or not.
Bob the Snowman was an important part of the window display at Lewis Baker until he was sold a few days before the Christmas Extravaganza evening. Eric the snowman went soon after.
Lewis Baker did not quite win the best window at the Christmas Extravaganza. If anything they peaked too early.
I managed to get a picture of these two celebrities together. One is Terry Boswell, who appeared on Channel 4 as part of a docusoap, four in a bed. More about her at The Abbey Guest House .

Louisa turned on the lights this year. There was a good crowd despite the freezing conditions.
Helen and Douglas House won the best costumes, and Patisserie Pascal won the best window.
The event was sponsored by Scottish Widows, who run the Abbey Shopping Centre. Other sponsors were Mays (who run the out of town Fairacres Shopping Centre), the Chamber of Commerce, and Abingdon Town Council.

The Market Place Christmas tree has now been replaced with a better specimen in time for tonight’s Christmas Extravaganza. The first tree did make the news, but the really big story coming out of Abingdon in November was whether a Royal wedding bun throw would go ahead – given there might be no roof on the County Hall for dignatories to throw from. It started at the Abingdon Herald, then went to Radio Oxford and ended up getting more headlines than any real bun throw ever would – even getting featured on Radio 4.
No sign of building work above ground yet at the Old Gaol but they were going to start with the underground carpark.
Economic recovery is still uncertain. House prices have fallen for the 4th or 5th month. So will development of the Old Gaol slow down awaiting an economic recovery or push on now they have begun?
