View from Spike’s Office


Thanks to Spike for this view out of his Office at 8,000 feet. He was working at the weekend and sent a picture looking down on The Abingdon Broads.

I was also asked to mention by a friend that the Abingdon Anglo-German Club has their first talk of the year. It is titled… PARACELSUS: Renewing Medicine and Changing Society. It is on Thursday 7:30pm at The Abbey Chapel.

Harps Loss Cross Keys gain


The Christmas Lights are down, and floods are abating. So what else has been happening. It appears that The Harp, (formerly Plough) on Stert Street, has closed and the Cross Keys has re-opened.

The Harp’s loss is the Cross Keys’ Gain. The Proprietors have moved from one to t’other.

Flood Update : Sporting Cancellations, Stranded Boats, Sunrise, etc.


Yesterday’s home game at Abingdon Town FC was postponed.

The Abingdon Parkrun, which starts and ends in Rye Farm Meadow (shown above), was cancelled. Organisers said “The risk to safety is too great to stage this weekend’s event.

Moored Boats appear to have survived without the scaffolding used during some previous floods.

There have been having some good sunsets and sunrises – picture taken this morning at the Abbey Meadows.

Thanks to David for the final picture taken yesterday morning at 9:30. He says “The stranded boat that was in Abingdon has moved on again and is caught in the safety fence before Culham weir.”
