Full Moon and Culvert Repairs

Full moon
Full moon tonight and a clear sky.
Full moon
Mars was visible just above the moon to the left.
Full moon
By moonlight, I see that there is a works depot by the Broad Face. Repairs to the River Stert culvert began on Monday and will take 2 weeks. As reported some weeks ago Stert Street had been partially closed to stop it collapsing.

There is a very good picture of the open River Stert under Stert Street in the 1960s. It is the fourth picture down of Martin’s excellent series of pictures taken by his dad … Destruction of Abingdon 1960s.

Monday Night Folk at the Anchor

Folk at the Anchor
On Monday Evenings there is Folk at the Anchor.  People were singing when we got there at about 9.

(I’m sure that deer’s head was not there last time we visited. )
Folk at the Anchor
There were solos and sing-a-longs in the back room…
Folk at the Anchor
accompanied by guitars, mandalines and eukeles.

It sounded like a good way for folk to spend a Monday Evening

Didcot Rangers without Rangerettes

Rangers no Rangerettes
A group of scantily clad young men came through town on Saturday collecting money for one of their good causes. Last time I pictured the Didcot Thong Rangers in Abingdon it was back in November 2008 when they were pulling a truck for Breast Cancer research. This time they are raising money to help a baby with Meningitis. With them were some young ladies on roller scates – the Rangerettes – on a 16 Mile Rollerskating Challenge Didcot-Abingdon-Didcot. I was too slow to catch the Rangerettes.
