Abingdon’s Online Community Radio Station

Abingdon's Online Community Radio Station
On the Market Place last weekend volunteers from Radio Abingdon Xtra braved the cold to promote what hopefully will become Abingdon’s community radio station. They already have a number of podcasts, and a show featuring music by local bands, and have been streaming royalty free music since January 1st.

Currently they are a small group and need more people to help make this community project take off – that could involve making programmes, or helping in other ways. They are also looking for a main sponsor to help pay for a licence to play more mainstream music.

They will be back on the Market Place on Saturday 16th Feb.

Carswell Primary School Signing and Singing

Carswell Primary School Signing and Singing
Children at Carswell Primary School, Abingdon, are seen here rehearsing for their part in a charity record breaker for the most young people signing and singing a song – an event with lots of schools taking part in this country and beyond.

The event takes part at 2:45 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday).

The children at Carswell will make a small donation (£1 minimum) to take part and will each receive their very own World Record Certificate (if the record is broken).

Funds go to the charity SignHealth.

The Snow Queen – through a child’s eyes

The Snow Queen
A small group of children from Abingdon (aged 7-12) are staging a production of The Snow Queen fairy tale on February 9th, 4pm at Christchurch, Northcourt Road, Abingdon.

Here they are during rehearsals acting a script they have adapted themselves. They will also be playing instruments

and using shadow puppets that they made.

All proceeds will be shared between the RSPB and VIVA (a charity working with street children around the world).
