Newspapers had headlines about snow chaos elsewhere in the country.

Here in Abingdon there was some light fresh snow. This picture of East St Helen Street early yesterday morning shows what snow there was. Most of it has gone again now.

The early morning traffic from South Abingdon is there whether there is snow or not.

Heavy snow hits Smiths

There is no snow yet in most of Abingdon although it is very cold …

but some shop windows in Abingdon – like Smiths the Chemist – have experienced heavy snow.
The air is still and damp and cold …

We woke to freezing fog – as can be seen on this picture taken at daybreak near St Helens Church.

By evening the fog had cleared and the moon was visible beside St Helens. But it will be back… The overnight forecast says “… widespread fog and frost is expected to form. Any roads still wet from showers may become icy.“
First frosts of autumn

The frost can be seen on the pavilion and bowling green at Albert Park. We have had a couple of early frosts now.

The spring and the autumn are the seasons of dramatic change. Most of the red leaves on the trees in front of the Long Alley almshouses have fallen already. The picture was taken a few days ago.
