The result of the Abingdon BID proposal has been announced. 58% of the votes cast were in favour, with 73% of the rateable value of the votes cast. The proposal needed to receive 50% or more votes in favour, with more than 50% of the rateable value of the votes cast.

Pictured above are some of the leaders of the BID proposal.

The BID lasts for 5 years and with an income of £800,000 from businesses, and likely additional income from other sources, the work to make the BID a success begins here…
Froctober is now into the final few dresses

I have been following the Froctober Fashions at the Cancer Research UK shop.

Their aim was to model 100 dresses and raise £1000 in 31 days. They have already modeled 100 dresses and raised £1033 with 2 days to go.

Opening at Night

When I did my report on Abingdon Museum ‘Opening at Night’ back in May, there were complaints that people did not know. There is another one happening this Friday. Be Warned!

It looks like we are at full moon again. Not a blue moon or super moon this time – more of a haloed moon with Halloween so near.

Down by the River the Abingdon Chamber of Commerce Twitter Feed shows a sign saying ‘Riverside Cafe Opening Spring 2016 (corrected)’. The centre building will become the cafe, and the boat chandlery will move to the smaller building on the right. Picnic tables will be added to the right of that.
People have started to turn on their heating

In late October, people have started to turn on their heating.

Pigeons are attracted by the warmth they find round chimney pots.
This will be the first winter for many of these birds. They will eat where they can, and find warmth where they can.
