Beerfest at the home of Abingdon Brewing

Beerfest
Loose Cannon were on the Market Place on Saturday as part of the Craft Market. They are part of a long line of successful Abingdon brewers dating back to medieval times.
Beerfest
And they will there at the Beerfest this coming weekend at the Long Gallery, part of the medieval Abingdon Abbey Buildings.
Beerfest
This is an opportunity to drink local beer on the site of the original Abbey Brewery. The Abbey Brewery was based in and around the Long Gallery and made beer there at the turn of the century – 1800, according to Abingdon Buildings and People. Before them the monks of Abingdon Abbey would also have produced local ales and beers.

Next Home Game?

Next Home Game
Abingdon Town Football Club have no fixtures this season. They appear to be having a year out. According to people I spoke to at the ground they hope be able to get a decent team together and re-apply to join the North Berks League next season. So we will see.
Next Home Game
In the meantime other teams are hiring the ground. There was a game on there this afternoon between two youth teams.

Transitions – City Daily Photo Theme Day

Long Alley Almshouse
Long Alley Almshouse was built in 1446 and has seen many generations of residents, of Governors of Christ’s Hospital of Abingdon ( who manage Abingdon’s almshouses), and of Kings and Queens. The transition from one generation to the next has seen huge changes in fashion, customs, and technology.

The bible verses on the walls are a reminder however to each generation that life is transitory.
Long Alley Almshouse
That we should take it one day at a time.
Long Alley Almshouse
That we don’t know what comes hereafter.

A very late entry for City Daily Photo Theme Day on December 1st.  For more ‘Transitions’ photographs try HERE.
