Less than 10 days to go now… A German Sausage stall appeared on the Market Place in Abingdon today

There was also a German Lebkuchen and Gingerbread stall.

The event was organised by Dawn who also organises the Chilli Festival. As usual for an event by Dawn there was music playing and lots of fun. Saucey Lady was there with some Chilli Sauce.

The Bug Store provided some gift ideas for anybody with a bug loving relative. All part of a wide ranging Christmas Bazaar – thanks to Dawn.

Meanwhile over the road, in St Nicolas Church, Cards For Good Causes had their final day after a very good run.

A young lady customer kindly posed for this picture. She looked so colourful.

The Christmas Tree has been chopped to size and the lights disentangled. Everything should soon be ready for Christmas at St Nics.
Advent Day 15 – Farmers Market on the Market Place with Carols

Today on the Market Place was the monthly Farmers Market. Here is David Busby selling his ‘Abingdon Honey’. David Busby has hives on a number or properties round Abingdon, and is often called to collect swarms of bees when they land somewhere where they could be a danger.

During the Market the Christian Aid singers were singing traditional carols.

They were accompanied by the Abbey Brass who will be appearing next at Wootton & Dry Sandford Community Centre with the Wootton Warblers. Details of that December 16th concert – Musical Delights in December – can be found on the Abbey Brass Website.
Alone at Christmas – and don’t want to be Alone

There is an invitation to join the Christmas Dinner at Peachcroft Church on Christmas Day this year. Guests are welcome to arrive from 12.30 pm for a 1 pm start. The event runs until 3 pm. Assistance with transport is available. Places are Free and Booking is essential.

At Preston Road Community Centre this evening some ladies from the Vineyard Church, who meet every Sunday at the centre, were putting together parcels and food for people – locally – who cannot afford Christmas this year.
Last of the Snowmen

There were a few piles of snow remaining this evening. At the end of Preston Road I saw one boy trying to re-make his snowman from a pile of snow alongside.
Snowmen not only had above-zero temperatures to contend with, there was also the rain.

It was pouring down by the time I got to Waitrose, where I heard the festive sound of Abingdon Town Band playing Christmas Carols.

Christmas lights could be seen above and below the road with the High Street layby underwater.
