Health Centre’s new traffic barrier makes the news

The new traffic barrier at the Marcham Road Health Centre has made the news again.
Both the Health Centre and Community Hospital next door are run by the NHS, and appear to be thriving from the amount of traffic they attract. Abingdon residents have campaigned on more than one occasion in the last fifteen years to keep the Community Hospital open, and so its success is good news.
But parking has become a problem and so the Health Centre has introduced a barrier to ensure their patients and staff can find parking when they need it.

It leads to a strange sight at weekends when an empty Health Centre Car Park is seen alongside a busy Hospital Car Park.
Unicom Theatre and Abingdon Exchange

Martin spotted this new sign walking up the Vineyard the other day. He says he is guessing someone ordered the sign by email – r and n can get squashed together in a few fonts. He says does no-one proof-read these things? Or is there a new sponsor!

Ashley says “Not sure if you have spotted it but the Abingdon Exchange has closed down or at least all the shelves in the shop are empty and it looks a bit deserted“
Old Abbey House – sale imminent

The Vale of White Horse are about to sell Old Abbey House, now that arrangements for Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council, and Citizens Advice are finalised.
Their advert says that it has Residential potential subject to achieving the necessary consents, and will be vacant by June 2014.
Unconditional or conditional offers are invited by noon 16/04/14.
