The 3 southern cooling towers of Didcot ‘A’ Power Station will get blown down between 3-5am tomorrow morning. I’ll try to show these views again tomorrow mornings, or as close as, to show the difference.

On the Market Place today Oxfordshire Young People were fund raising at the Abingdon Nasio Music fun day. The Nasio Trust is a UK-based Charity supporting projects working with orphaned and destitute children in Kenya. Nasio have been holding events on the Market Place for a few years now.
I remember buying my first orange Nasio brick to help fund one of the Nasio Day Care Centres in about 2008, and got another brick today. The 2014 bricks are bigger and more squashy.
The Nasio charity began when an elderly lady called Irene found an abandoned baby and cared for it. The works has grown from there, and the trust run two day care centres, and also offer young people from Oxfordshire the chance to get involved with activities and fundraising, culminating in volunteering for one of the projects in Kenya.
The Land Rover on the Market Place is due to be shipped to Mombasa in October , and will be used to help transport sick children to the nearest hospital and help their work in other ways.
Masons are celebrating 75 years as a family run business in Abingdon this year. The family bought the shop at 39 Stert Street in 1939 and initially sold children’s clothes, hosiery, and knitting wool.
That was joined by the shops at 20 Bath Street
and 22 Bath Street in about 1961.
The above adverts from the Abingdon Directory in 1960 and 1973 show that they have always been a shop you will enjoy visiting.
Masons now specialise in knitting wool and upholstery at 39 Stert Street, Fabrics and Haberdashery at 20 Bath Street, and crafts at 22 Bath Street. They also have a fourth shop window on the world wide web.
Private Peaceful is the Abingdon Community Read this summer as promoted by Our Ladies Abingdon. They are hoping that people will read and leave comments abut the book.

The Head Teacher of the school where I am a Governor signed off the end of term newsletter, after goodbyes to Year 6’s, with “Have a great summer and please ensure that your children read daily, it keeps the mind sharp!”
