Festive Sing-a-long at 5:30pm on the Market Place

Festive Sing-a-long
Festive Carols were happening round the shops of Abingdon this afternoon.
Festive Sing-a-long
Then everybody got together under the tree on the Market Place at 5:30pm for a sing-along.

Thanks to Abingdon Music Centre and their enthusiastic conductor; all the people who turned out; and Visit Abingdon who helped organised the event.

I understand it to mean that choirs sing from 1630 to 1730 and then it’s a free for all from 1730. But that’s just a guess.

Sorry to be the synical one again- but, myself and granddaughter arrived at 4.25 to find a gathering of about 30 or so members of the rock choir, only trouble was the Albert Park Singetrs were already in full song, after what looked like a hurried discussion between the two groups the A P singers moved over to out continue singing outside Gatwoods, meanwhile the Rock Choir got into some sort of assembly- ut oh- Samis Kebab van arrived and duly evicted the still silent Rock Choir from his place, The Rock Choir then moved to the other side of the market place too, but remained silent until 5.00pm when the Albert Park singers finished their session, Ready then Rock Choir? 1 2 3 – Frosty the flipping snowman accompanied by a dreadful pre recorded backing noise, at which point we left!
Surly the purpose of the BID is to encourage shoppers into town then keep them there to spend? Sadly their effort here did neither

Daniel – The Wi-Fi is great in the Market Place and Bury St but I don’t think it extends any further than that, I think ‘the flowers’ offer more widespread coverage. Anyway it’s not ‘free’ your details are recorded and used for ‘research’ i.e. Sold to the Indian’s, there is also some conjecture as to what degree the data you use through it is scrutinised. Causality my friend.
