The Duke of Gloucester came to Abingdon

Duke of Gloucester
Yesterday, The Duke of Gloucester opened Abingdon Resource and Wellbeing Centre. The Day Centre which used to be near the library, has moved to the Abbey Centre in Audlett Drive and been upgraded to a Resource and Well Being Centre – something more than a Day Centre. It now also has the aim of ‘ keeping individuals in their own homes for as long as possible and to actively address health needs at an early stage.‘ They and other user groups of the Abbey Centre were there to see him.

Let’s hope the council can manage their resources well and avoid as many closures/job losses as possible. It’s going to be a big ask…

The Duke spent a while talking with my father, who suffers with Alzheimers. My father, through much of his charity work has had similar occasionsover the years though doesn’t remember them clearly now but he will talk about this to others for a long time :o)
