Saturday Morning

This Satuday Morning:
Sue Ryder
Sue Ryder took over the Kempster Room, in the museum basement, for a sale of clothing, at just £1 for three items.
French Crafts
There was a small French Antiques and Craft Market on the Market Place. This is a change from the usual French Food Market – put on to see if the concept would work before they bring the rest of the market.
Scouts
The scouts were also on the Market Place selling books, bric-a-brac, and Tombola tickets.
Music in the Park
There were still armbands available for the Music in the Park event on 6th June.
Scouts
The Friends of Radley Lakes also had a display of photographs of Radley Lakes at St Ethelwolds House.

Apologies to anybody who this does not concern but if you do live in Caldecott Ward, I did do a short biography in the About link just in case.

Alastair, you do sterling work, and you definitely have my vote. During the last couple of years, since moving to Abingdon, I have learnt a great deal about the town from your blog.

I also went to the exhibition of pictures of Thrupp Lake, many of which were very good.

I wish I had known about the French ‘antique’ market, as I would like to have taken a look.

Alastair, I wish you luck, and I hope you get elected, but I wish you’d stuck to your guns and stood as an Independent.

Getting back to the main post, I know this was just a “taster” French craft market and maybe the full thing would have been much better, but I couldn’t help thinking that our own local craftspeople produce just as good stuff. The Local Excellence Market will be back on 30 May and there are some fantastic displays on during the May Art Weeks – also, next weekend one of the local potters is having a sale at her studio in Culham Village. Details of many of these are on the Events Diary on the town website – or see the Art Weeks website for all their exhibitors
