What will become of Jessops?

Are Jessops to follow Klick
The future of Jessops in Abingdon Market Place is in doubt after the company went into administration today.

Last weekend I went in to pick up some prints that had been delayed because the printing machine was out of order. The prints were delayed further because of problems getting a part. Maybe that was all symptomatic of larger difficulties.
Are Jessops to follow Klick
On 25th Feb 2006 this blog reported that Jessops were taking over from That Camera Place and would now compete with Klick.

Klick is now the Cutting Bar. What will become of Jessops?

Schools went back today

Schools went back today. The contractors were taking down the Christmas Lights in the Market Place this evening.
Curtain of Light
One festive light display remains across the river. I went down the slipway at St Helen’s Wharf to try to get a low angle shot but found thick mud slurping round my shoes – left behind by the floods. I hope the curtain of rippling light will stay for a while yet.

Half term week starts February 9th.

Borough of Abingdon Sign in Saxton Road

Saxton Road
The Saxton Arms public house should be designated a listed building before anybody tries to change it for the worse. There is a great view of the pub from Reynolds Way.
Saxton Road
Saxton Road had a great uniformity when first laid out. The Borough of Abingdon had a plan for the people moved out of the old unfit housing in Ock Street. I think they tried to keep people in the same community from where they came but with more space and better housing. The houses and pub were very uniform at first, but the creation of the Home Zone almost a decade ago has changed that.
Saxton Road
People have also transformed their gardens – some with great individuality.
Saxton Road
I doubt if there is a better “Borough of Abingdon” sign in the rest of Abingdon.
