The Norman doorway fronting St Nicolas Church by Abingdon Market Place

has a new door. It will take some getting used to.
Remember When Garden Party

There is a Garden Party at Stonehill House next Saturday 21st for a couple of hours in the afternoon. It is especially aimed at the older residents of the area, since it will be a simple old-fashioned afternoon of tea, cakes & music with some traditional skills on show. Furthermore there will be a talk by Mr Boffin (real name!) of Nuffield Place on the history of the Morris Minor and the man behind the name… William Morris, Lord Nuffield. All for £3! In aid of British Red Cross.
Take along grannies and grandpas!
Crossing the road safely at a Puffin crossing

The road works at the Wootton Road Roundabout were finished a couple of months ago. The intention was to make the roundabout safer for cyclists, after a number of accidents involving cyclists. There was also a campaign by parents and schools three or four years ago to make the Dunmore Road Crossing safer at this roundabout .

But the orange bags remain.

Training material about ‘Crossing the road safely at a Puffin crossing’ is still being displayed.
I did see a car slow down and wave a parent and child across even though the lights are not yet turned on.
Formal Wild Flowers Beds

Back in December 2013 the turf was cut away. Then in April a wild flowers area was treated and created in the Abbey Meadows by the Carbon Cutters and friends.

There are now the first of the flowers with walkways between – mowed in quite a formal way.
