There was a lot of rain this afternoon which left standing water on many roads and paths in Abingdon. At the top of East St Helen Street the run off from the Punchbowl and adjoining shops helped to cause a flash flood. The drainage never seems that good at that water juncture.

At Nic’s church water gushed out of the spouts of the gargoyles and so avoids splashing the building. There is the chance it will hit anybody not looking.

Last night there was a snow fall.

By morning some of the snow was still there because the night was cold. The morning was sunny and cold and in places snow remained.

There was a heavy hail storm that left a layer of slushy ice on the ground, and running water on the paths. Thunder roared overhead and the chap who sits under a tree in all weathers with his dog decided to make a move.

People had been gathering at the bowls club but they all left and drove off during the hail storm. The pitch was covered and, if our lawn is anything to go by, it took an hour or two to melt.
