Oxford Comedy Deathmatch perform at Comedy Abingdon

Can I say thankyou to the people who organised this third Comedy Abingdon event at the Unicorn Theatre.

For anybody who remembers ‘Who’s Line is it anyway’ the format was similar. Two teams from Oxford Comedy Deathmatch were improvising suggestions from the mainly Abingdon audience.

In this round the chap on the right is being interviewed about the Catford traditional of spoon playing. He describes how a Catford spoon player helped defend the London Borough of Catford against intruders from the neighbouring borough who come doing the Lambeth Walk.

Oxford Comedy Deathmatch will be back again at the Unicorn Theatre from 14th-17th December for an improvised pantomime.

There was a good crowd to see the 19 performances – I am not sure why the number of entries was down on last year but it meant that the heats and final were all rolled into one.

My son was supposed to be performing and had set out to write a rap about a notorious female hanging in the Old Gaol but it proved too ambitious. He was replaced by a very good ballet dancer, and there was a band called ‘No Fear.’
