Boris Johnson is Mayor of London, and the Conservative parliamentary candidate for the seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip at the 2015 general election.
The Shoe Shop of Abingdon closed down today. That leaves Abingdon with just two dedicated shoe shops – Clarks and Scruffs.
Coffee shops continue to do much better than traditional shops – such as butchers, greengrocers, and even video rentals – the 1980s success story.
There are notices on the ex-Hadleigh China shop, at the top of West St Helen Street, to say that they are looking for recruits for a frozen yogurt specialist.
BBC Radio Oxford were in the Friends of Abingdon Community Shop, in Bury Street, as the final part of their “Big Ballot Box Tour” series.

Once the politicians were out, Abingdon Flower Club took over the shop, and were busy arranging flowers as 1st May is National Flower Arranging Day. The displays will be left up in the window over the bank holiday weekend.
