Rainfall with Snow making an appearance in shop windows

Rain was falling in town today and many puddles formed.

Snow has started to make an appearance in a number of shop windows as the change of season takes hold.

Oxfam have even got a Snowing Christmas Tree that draws polystyrene beads from the base of the tree and cascades them down from the top.

In the Community Space (shop) the Studio Theatre group were publicising their seasonal show called Humbug – a musical version of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens which plays from 25 to 28 November at the Unicorn Theatre in Abingdon.
Happy Pebble Project

We found a Happy Pebble on our doorstep, and there were half a dozen up our street. People in Abingdon have been finding Happy Pebbles since mid September. …

and posting pictures on the Happy Pebble facebook page.
The page says “We would like to spread a bit of happiness, make someone smile on a miserable day – see if you can find one of our ‘Happy’Pebbles :)”
Pandora opening soon, and other upcoming shop changes

Pandora will be opening in Bury Street next week and have been fitting out the shop, previously used by Valentina – who moved to a larger premises across the way. Pandora are well known for their customisable charm bracelets. Robert Gatwood on the Market Place also stocks Pandora jewelery.

Nearby, the shop at the Market Place end of Bury Street is being worked on to create the new Wildwood Restaurant.
There was a recent report by the Vale of White Horse District Council saying Empty shops in Abingdon have been cut by half. They say only 4.4 per cent of Abingdon’s shops are empty in 2015 compared with 8.8 per cent in the same survey last year.

One ex-pub on Stert Street is being converted into a shop, and there is a rumour that a well established Abingdon Chemist will be moving there.
