This week’s Abingdon Herald has an account of the car crash at 1 a.m on Sunday morning. The speeding car first hit a parked vehicle and then careered into the River Thames. Both driver and passenger were able to get out.

This morning the car was rescued from the River Thames.

The car was towed towards more shallow water, and then winched out.

It was a Skoda Octavia sold in 2018.

The Abingdon Christmas Tree Festival is on from 4th – 8th December in the Community Free Space, Bury Street, 10am – 4pm. You can make your own decoration and help decorate the tree outside.

Steve sent me this picture of a bench in Bath street that has been unusable until a local carpenter took the matter into their own hands and repaired it. They even added a new leg for safety.

Advent Candles and Christmas Tree at Trinity

One of the congregation was invited to light the first candle on the advent crown this morning,

then everybody was invited to bring a candle up to the altar.

In a change from previous years the twelve foot Christmas Tree is artificial, and came in five sections that were slotted together and then the branches bushed out. The tree is covered with many small lights and has a bright star on top.

We are now waiting for the true light to appear.
