New Zebra Crossing on Northcourt Road

A zebra crossing on Northcourt Road, near Dunmore Primary School, has been built to make pedestrians safer. This road sees a lot of traffic, especially during school hours. (According to crashmap.co.uk, there have been three minor accidents on this stretch since 2018). The new crossing was built over an existing speed bump and funded by Oxfordshire County Council. The final carriageway work was planned for half term and took a day.

Seeneys Pet Supplies to Close after thirty years

After 30 years of serving the Abingdon community, Seeneys Pet Supplies announced at the start of February (on Facebook) that it will be closing its doors permanently at the end of March. They thanked their loyal customers and dedicated staff for their support and said this decision was difficult. But ever-rising costs and falling revenue have made it impossible for them to continue operating the Abingdon store.

The closure of the Abingdon store does not affect the Weston-on-the-Green store. The Abingdon store will hold a closing down sale.

The neighbouring business Bella Rita, which occupies a different section of the building, has also had a closing down sale.

Second Flood This Year: Tesco Extra Closes in Abingdon as River Ock Bursts its Banks

The River Ock caused flooding today (Saturday), leading to the closure of the Tesco Extra store in Abingdon. The store’s car park and access roads were underwater. This is the second time the store has had to close due to flooding in 2024. This follows persistent rain during much of Thursday.

The people of Ladygrove Estate watched the water with concern yesterday and today, but the water did not go as high as it did during the January flood.

P.S. Tesco reopened on Sunday.
