The Ox has gone from the Oxford Road

The Ox has gone
The Ox pub sign has gone from its traditional place on the Oxford Road. There were once 60 pubs in Abingdon for a population of 5,000. There are now 17 for a population of 33,000.

Painting Bus Stops

Painting Bus Stops
The new bus stops on Stratton Way and High Street are sleek black models, and now it appears that the older models along the Oxford Road areĀ being painted black.
Painting the Bus Stops Black
This one is so black it is difficult to see.

Perhaps the bins, and bus stop signs will be next to follow this new scheme.

Lifting Wobbly Pavement

Lifting Wobbly Pavement
Ever since workmen laid the new pavement on the High Street there appears to be something trying to get out from beneath. Back in March 2010 I was told thatĀ  ‘the paving stones all have to be relayed as wrong size blocks were delivered‘.

Today I reported this particular lifting wobbly pavement to fixmystreet.com . I can’t remember anything having been done yet.
