Experience Easter
450 primary-aged school children, accompanied by almost 100 adults, took a journey back in time at Trinity Church, to Jerusalem at The Passover. They not only heard the story of the first Easter, but experienced the events of that week through a series of workshops.

The event was organised by TrinityLearning, a project set up by Trinity to help improve the quality of life in our local schools, and was staffed by forty volunteers from churches all over Abingdon.

Morning mist soon gone

First Thing
March 2011 was the driest since 1953. It was also within the top 15 Marches for sunshine in the last century. April began with seasonal showers but has now settled and we have just had the warmest day of the year. The mist on the river was soon gone.

If it was any nearer, the coal burning Didcot A power station would dwarf the methane burning power plant at Sutton Wick landfill – near Abingdon. But for about six months of the year that little power plant more than holds its own when it comes to generating power. It is only economical to run Didcot A over the winter and so it gets shut down during the summer.

The recent changes to Spring Gardens Cemetery look complete. The roadway has been edged and surfaced.

A new office for visitor enquiries with loo alongside has been built, and the depot building renewed.

I see in the Town Crier “There will be an opportunity for you to visit the site on an Open Day arranged for Friday 15 April from 8am – 6pm. Phone 01235 553480 for an appointment.”
