In 1911 Douglas Macmillan started up the ‘Society for the Prevention and Relief of Cancer’. 100 years later Macmillan Cancer Support is still there to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. I asked this chap what it was like being 100 years old.
I see there are lights brightening the front of Twickenham House as you go down East St Helen Street.
It is part of the same development as the Old Gaol.
There is now a large crane positioned there, and the steel frames for concrete structures are growing to the left of the Old Gaol.

It was broadcast this evening on the BBC News as part of a three part series on the local election trail. Yesterday was the Labour leader, Ed Millaband in Leicester, today was Lib-Dem leader, Nick Clegg in Abingdon, and tomorrow will be the Conservative leader, David Cameron.
The coot’s nest in question is built a few feet away from the bank of a well frequented public garden in Abingdon. On Friday the coot’s nest was decorated with primula.
During Friday night a traffic cone, and green bin cover found their way in near the nest. They were removed on Monday morning.
But now the nest is surrounded by shopping bags full of I don’t know what. So much bread finds its way down there that the male coot is forever chasing away ducks.
