In June Davis Tate acquired Buckell and Ballard’s Abingdon office on the High Street. Over the summer the bay windowed office was repainted. The Bus Stop got damaged a week or so ago.
Beyond their own back yards
There are some things local councils no longer have the resources to tackle. The County Council is responsible for clearing weeds but unless the weeds block or impede access it is unlikely they will act. So action falls to the local town or parish council or to local people.

The path between St Michael’s Avenue and Park Road had become very overgrown. The path used to be regularly weeded by a local resident, but since he passed away it has got a bit out of hand.

So a small band of local residents embarked on a bit of street gardening today and have cleared the path of weeds, removing the graffiti from the neighbouring fence

– filling up 3 wheelie bins.

Thanks to Iain for sending this. He adds “Hopefully everyone will agree the path now looks much better. Thank you to Megan, Geoff, Lucy, Rosie, Hope and Toby for all their help.”
End of the Cricket Season

At Abingdon Vale Cricket ground there are normally 40 or 50 youngsters practising cricket on a Saturday morning but today the nets were being rolled up and put away.

Fresh soil had also been spread across sections of the cricket ground, and the areas reseeded.
(The cricket club seem to be doing well with 4 adult Saturday teams in the Cherwell League, and a Sunday team – as well as all the youngsters. Good luck to them next season.)
Sunrise in the East

This is the view that greeted me when I work up this morning as the sun rose behind East St Helen Street.
(The Sun rises in the east and sets in the west because the Earth spins toward the east.)
