Crown and Thistle Re-opens

The Crown and Thistle re-opened today after a major rebuild and refurbishment.

Before …

and After.

Before …

and After.
In a few short months the interior of the Crown and Thistle (hotel, restaurant, and bar) has been transformed, and externally it has been made safe against the elements.

The Old Barn was an old storage place. Now it makes a much bigger indoor bar area which can be closed off and used for private functions.
Abingdon Scouts and Guides Christmas Post – Only 20p Per Card

Thanks to Tom for sending me a reminder about the Scouts and Guides Christmas Post. At 20p per card it beats the competitors by a long long way.

You just drop your cards and money in the white boxes provided – like the one pictured at Charity Christmas Cards in the Bear Room at the Guildhall.
The Scouts, Guides, and other helpers do the rest. They collect the cards from all the white boxes, sort them in their own temporary sorting office, and the deliverers make sure they get to the correct address.
Giraffes at Tesco Supermarkets

Tesco has been transforming itself.
For some time they have added specialist delicatessen, butcher, bakery and fish counters.
More recently they have opened separate shops within their big shop for pharmacies, opticians, travel agents, mobile phones, and shoes menders.
Tesco have even added wood fittings to give their trolley shelters a more natural look.
Recently they bought a Giraffe to win their battle with the other big supermarket chains.

Giraffes are being added close to lots of Tesco supermarkets including the one in Abingdon.

The Giraffe restaurant opens on 2nd Dec.
Tesco bought family friendly, London trendy, restaurant chain, Giraffe for £48.6m back in March.
