Progress continues on the building on Marcham Road – once rumored to be a KFC, but which is really accommodation for elderly people.
Over the road, McDonalds is having alterations made and is closed for the week.
Meanwhile on the corner further alterations are being made by Oxfordshire County Council – possibly to make the footpath / cycleway safer. It narrows at this point and is raised about two feet above the height of the road below.
perhaps McD is branching out as a KFC too… 😉
Is this why the large Horse Chestnut tree was recently felled ? But wasn’t their a TPO placed on it when the OCC remodelled this area a couple of years ago !
That’s not a building for elderly people – it’s 14 flats with 12 parking spaces. Unless you know otherwise 😉
you could well be right. Should have checked.
I am just wondering whether I can rather hijack this post to enlist Backstreeter and others’ help regarding the eyesore of the abandoned boat on the stretch between Abingdon Bridge and Abingdon Lock? It’s been left high and dry on the meadow now for about 4 months, anyway since the flooding. As time goes on it’ll become more of an eyesore. Summer will undoubtedly see kids lighting fires in it etc. I’m told that the Parks Manager at VWH is Ian Matten (tel: 01235 540373). Perhaps if enough people call him, perhaps something will be done. Harness the power of social media!
Update re boat. Having talked to the helpful Mr Matten at VWH, he assures me the council are on the case. Still, it’ll help should people feel able to call him to maintain momentum.
