The shop on the High Street formerly known as ybuynu has changed to Abingdon Fashion. Previously people used to bring in nearly new clothes to be sold on, like a High Street Ebay, but now all the fashion is new and looks very spring like and summery.
The layout of the upstairs part of the shop is still recognisable from the days when Knights the bookshop used to be in this premises. Currently upstairs is being used for the remaining nearly new clothes, but soon both floors will be used for new Abingdon fashion.
I remember the view when it was a cafe.
I love this shop and also the colours its bright and fresh its just want the town needs . I think it is very brave of the owners to open in these tough times i wish them well ,
You’re right that it used to be a cafe, Eddie. It was set up by my grandad, Henry Midwinter, for a local dairy after the war. The cooking was done in the basement, the ground floor was an American style Milkshake Bar and the first floor was a restaurant. They had a dumb waiter to get the orders up from the basement .
