Abingdon County Hall Museum Cake

County Hall Museum Cake
There was a goodbye event for Lauren, the museum curator, who finishes on Wednesday. About 60 people attended a reception to thank her for all she has done for the museum. There were speeches by the Town Clerk, and the Chair of the Abingdon County Hall Museum Committee, and a very moving speech by Lauren herself. Then a magnificent cake was unveiled –  made by Elizabeth Mergel (www.cakesbylizmergel.com) who supplies cakes for Throwing Buns.

We were stunned when we picked the cake up – what a masterpiece! ……… and I’d only ordered it 2 days before!!! A big, big thanks to Liz.

So pleased you got a photo of that amazing cake – by the time I thought about it, most of it was gone!
It did taste good though 🙂

This was a terrific cake and a wonderful send off for Dr Gilmour, she has been a great asset to Abingdon. Do you have any more photographs Alistair as I know Julie took quite a few?
