It looked like somebody had put a mosque in front of the County Hall this morning.
But on closer inspection it turned out to be an inflatable church.
Inside there was a puppet show going on, and nearby were stalls put on by the Church in Abingdon and a big cake to celebrate the birthday of the church on the day of Pentecost back in the first century AD.
It is Pentecost tomorrow and there will be an act of worship at 3 PM on the Market Place.
As well as the church in Abingdon celebrations there was music from the Abbey Concert Band, Coffee from Costa and Coffee Republic, and a stall by Vale House who care for people with Alzheimer’s in Botley.
Thanks to everyone who took part. Due to an army of volunteers we were able to provide tea and cake, do face painting and bouncy castle, storytelling, puppets, craft, a scavenger hunt, balloons, and decorating biscuits – all completely free!
All in all a great way for the church to celebrate its birthday. at Pentecost.
