Additional fortification has been added to the Upper Reaches Hotel to stop trespassers. There is no predicted date for when any real work will happen to use this land.
Repairs to Abingdon Bridge are now predicted for about October. The Jubilee flags are still flying as is the Ukrainian Flag from 24th August – Ukrainian Independence Day.
The local residents and the Civic Society have complained about the new “fortification” to the Vale planning dept – they are also unhappy about it and will be requiring the leaseholders to modify it. The various barriers which have been put up seem so far to be serving their purpose of reducing anti-social behaviour, but there is a balance between that and creating an even more unsightly environment for local residents and visitors.
I wonder whether we could reintroduce the pillory and the stocks and have a cabbage throwing day at the leaseholders. I’ll probably have the Vegetable Protection Front on at me now…
Isn’t the long term plan, to leave Upper Reaches to reach such a dilapadated state, the owners can say that it’ll cost to much to repair?
