There are a couple of developments in Abingdon as we head through another new year.
Fairacres Phase 2 is nearing completion. The shells of the buildings with windows are complete. The carpark area has been painted. The Lidl looks finished outside apart from signage. Shop fitting could well be proceeding inside.
Kings Gate is at the beginning. There is one muddy area bounded by the A34, Wootton Road, Dunmore Road and play area, and Tilsley Park. Earth movers are piling earth and creating the outline of tracks.
New pedestrian lights have been put in across the Dunmore Road.
Always interesting to photograph construction sites and changes in our surroundings.
it is good to know that the Phase 2 development has solar panels on the roofs and utilize greywater, and the Kings Gate development are putting in the groundworks for ground source heating, and greywater recovery and all the houses will have solar panels on the roofs as well.
Does anyone know where the trees/carbon offsetting for both developments is?
I walked up to the Kings Gate development last week and the noise from the raised section of the A34 and the Wootton Road was quite oppressive. I can’t see how the houses could be insulated from the noise and this sounds as though it might be the noisiest place in Abingdon to live.
They can’t be fully insulated, unless they install triple glazing and residents keep their windows closed!
I live is a new (11 years old) estate in South Abingdon; in the morning I can hear the constant hum of A34 traffic (although less during covid).
