After three hot September days, there was heavy rain last night with lightening and thunder. The gap between the lightening and thunder was first thirteen seconds and then eight seconds. It did not get any closer. As a rule of thumb there are five seconds for a mile.
This evening the clouds are lit up by a Harvest Moon – the full moon nearest the Harvest Festival.
Another excellent picture Alastair. It is very difficult to capture both the clouds and the floodlit church.
This link is particularly useful/fascinating when there is lightning about http://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m=sat;r=0;t=2;s=0;o=0;b=;n=0;
Great picture – and an excellent reminder of a wild night!
A stunning photo!
Dramatic and ominous. Something unusual is going on in there. Happy New Year.
Very dramatic! Good choice for your fave.
