The Grapes Sign

Grapes Sign
One pub that seems to be thriving since The Narrows opened is The Grapes – just over the road. The Grapes normally seems to have some sort of sport playing on the big screens. But what struck me yesterday is the new pub sign.
Grapes Sign
After a series of signs depicting bunches of grapes, they now have a 3D bunch of grapes.

It looks as if all the doom and gloom about the opening of Wetherspoons was short lived, the pubs appear to be donig well. ( maybe The Narrows could do with a new sign as well as theirs is alomst illegible)

I understand The Anchor’s current landlord is leaving … I hope they find a replacement so the place doesn’t close.

Elsie, I hope so too, but their biggest problem is parking; it is either residents or commuters, little space for customers.
I heard that when they took over the pub there was planning approval for a pontoon on the river, but nothing happened.

A pontoon, good idea, did it ever get floated past planning? Did a consultant ever get paid to look into it?

…I had a wonderful idea for this area…but it got kicked back because my suggestion for funding made me a comnunist. It would seem that big ideas and aspiration are reserved for Didcot and Witney, sadly.

Still, mustn’t grumble; when does the big Superdrug open?

Might not suit you, captain, but we mummers and morrismen have been made very welcome and have had some very enjoyable times in the anchor under this landlord.

I would like to think myself and the staff deserve some of the praise for The Grapes appearing to be thriving!!! Not just that the narrows opened opposite! Haha. (The Narrows opened 9months before I moved in)
