Abingdon 2014 Time Capsule at 1-3 Ock Street

The work at 1-3 Ock Street is nearing completion. The building was once the Probation Office in Abingdon.

Kemp & Kemp have taken it on and have been restoring the building, sympathetically, to be their new offices.

They are to bury a time capsule under the floor to the building capturing ‘life in Abingdon today’ as well as telling the story of the building. Suggestions very welcome.

Obviously the ideal would be some extracts from this blog but I guess that It will change so much that future generations won’t. be able to read any formats we have now so more conventional resources are safer. Here are some thoughts:

There was quite a good end of year summary in the Herald in December; your map of the town centre shop occupancy might be of interest; examples of prices etc from days gone by are often interesting so maybe a restaurant menu or an itemised till receipt from a supermarket; a copy of the “What’d On Leaflet” or one of the “Round & About” type magazines, photos., programmes for the Diamond Jubilee events, passion play etc……
