Trip Hazard on Thames Street

Thames Street
Before Heritage day I had to do risk assessments on activities we were planning. There are risks you can create yourself like a gazebo on a windy day that is not weighted down, and there are risks that are there already that you can’t do much about except warn people.

Thames Street is very picturesque.

but over on the side by the river, where people have no real reason to go apart from to admire the view, or see the new Heritage information board, there is the worst pavement in Abingdon.

You have been warned.

Dear Neighbour

Tesco Good Neighbour
Residents near the Ox Pub recently got a letter from Tesco saying

Dear Neighbour

We have taken over the run down Ox public house and are going to transform this premises into a small Tesco Express. We do not need to apply for planning permission to change a pub into a small convenience store but we will be applying for planning permission to change the elevation and add some new signs.

Yours Sincerely.

Fun in the Park 2011

The annual fun in the park was on this afternoon. As usual there were lots of community stalls, and as the weather held out there were also lots of people.

This stall is run by the north and south Abingdon Children’s Centres.

At fun in the parks there is always the chance to try something new – like Scottish Country Dancing.

I had a go at the quiz at the Green Gym stall.

I did hear that one of the ex pubs we visited yesterday had an incident soon after. The fridge started leaking gas and Stert Street got closed as a result. The ex pub was the George and Dragon.
