There was a warm welcome for all at the 6pm-9pm Museum at Night event at Abingdon County Hall Museum.

There was also a performance by the Abingdon Town Oompah band led by Steve Rich.

This was a tribute to Abingdon’s twin town Schongau, in Bavaria, who have an excellent brass band.

Abingdon Town Centre is the first Business Improvement District in Oxfordshire

The result of the Abingdon BID proposal has been announced. 58% of the votes cast were in favour, with 73% of the rateable value of the votes cast. The proposal needed to receive 50% or more votes in favour, with more than 50% of the rateable value of the votes cast.

The BID lasts for 5 years and with an income of £800,000 from businesses, and likely additional income from other sources, the work to make the BID a success begins here…

It looks like we are at full moon again. Not a blue moon or super moon this time – more of a haloed moon with Halloween so near.

Down by the River the Abingdon Chamber of Commerce Twitter Feed shows a sign saying ‘Riverside Cafe Opening Spring 2016 (corrected)’. The centre building will become the cafe, and the  boat chandlery will move to the smaller building on the right. Picnic tables will be added to the right of that.
