and a steamy mist rose from the River Thames around Saint Helen’s Wharf, and further afield.

New piles have been sunk on the other bank of the Thames to help secure that bank from further erosion. It might even provide space for a few more boats.
Blog Action Day – WATER

Today is blog action day and thousands of bloggers are writing about water. This evening’s picture shows lights and buildings reflected on the River Thames.
In the year 2000 over £50,000 was raised for the Abingdon Millennium project. It included donations from Abingdon UK and Abingdon Virginia. There is no millennium monument to show for it – no sculpture on the Market Place. Instead, the money went to help fund WaterAid projects in Ethiopia and India. I wonder how we are progressing towards the target of clean water for everybody in 2015. It sounded achievable in 2000 …
