Ox Eye Daisies seem to be doing particularly well this year – whether you go out along the river towards Swift Ditch…

or out near the new canal cut (at Jubilee Junction).

After the cold spell in December the winter has been mild…

Winter Aconites have been out for quite some time. These ones are in the Abbey Garden.

A few feet away the snow drops are growing tall.

And catkins on the Ock Valley Walk will soon be at full stretch. Their pollen will be carried on the wind to the smaller red flowers at the top of the catkins on nearby trees.

Valentine’s Day at Fabulous Flowers.

Witch Hazel, or Winterbloom, down St helen’s Close, brightens these January days. A few sheltered snow drops have also appeared.

The River Ock is higher today, as yesterday’s rainfall works its way through the system. The Ock Valley Walk is still clear and there is no need to wade through water.
