Snow Day 2

Abingdon snow day 2
S I N J U N @lordsinjun tweeted this picture of a polar bear seen in #Abingdon.

There was still lots of snow for making snowmen, snowcreatures and pulling children round on sledges. I even saw one child being pulled on a sledge across Caldecott Rec by a bike.

Back in Abingdon after snow

Abingdon after snow
Got back to Abingdon after a four hour drive that usually only takes one. The band of snow had already passed Abingdon but caused great problems when I tried to leave Bracknell at the same time as lots of other people.

I was back in time to donate blood at Preston Road Community Centre but that had been cancelled because of adverse weather conditions. So I still have the blood.
Abingdon after snow
Stopped off at Reynolds Way shops to get something to eat only to have snow balls thrown at the car by some giggling children hiding near the garages.

Finally I uploaded a youtube video of the last 2 minutes of the long journey.

Monday Morning Snowfall

Monday Morning Snowfall
It was one of those Monday mornings when I could not find the car. I cut through the gap near the church and was surprised to find the car was not in the parking area by the River Ock.

Returning along St Helen’s Close, I cast an eye over West St Helen’s Street Carpark, before finding the car two doors up from our house, in West St Helen’s Street – covered in snow.

I suspect Alzheimer’s is a bit like that – as stronger memories take over from the more immediate past.

During the day I saw one of the Solar Powered Christmas Trees being attached to Goffs, thanks to Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council. I believe they had a budget for 17 energy saving trees.

12/12/12 ended as it began – cold and frosty. The final picture is taken from the walkway across Abingdon Weir.

Did anybody notice anything to make a remarkable day of what was a remarkable date?
