Thank you to Daniel for more drone pictures of the Abingdon’s new estate by the Wootton Road. Driving past the other day my wife said it looked like Toy Town.

Turn the drone round and the land looks less like Toy Town and more like a building site.

You can see a lot more on Daniel’s youtube video at https://youtu.be/TsN62B9sJv0.

First house at Abbey Fields and road name at Kings Gate

There was an article in the Abingdon HeraldĀ saying ‘Abingdon school boy has chosen the name of a new development’ Abbey Fields. It is an excellent name. There has been excitement around the Dunmore Road area because the first houses have appeared at Abbey Fields.

The housebuilder is Barratt, well known to some of us for their 1970s helicopter adverts.

Meanwhile at Kings Gate the first houses have been occupied.

The road into the estate has been called Morgan Vale after former Mayor and Freeman of Abingdon, Janet Morgan. The Oxford Mail had an obituary.
Abbey Fields development – December 2021
Daniel has been filming above the Abbey Fields development north of Dunmore Road in Abingdon and I have taken a couple of stills from his film.

This pictures looks south west towards Tilsley park.

This one looks north east towards Lodge Hill. It is on a larger scale that the Kingsgate development for David Wilson Homes.

Abbey Fields carries the brand Barratt Homes.
Barratt Developments PLC owns three consumer brands: Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Barratt London. From what I can gather David Wilson Homes are for the higher end of the market.
Abingdon is growing again

Daniel is fully airborne again and flying like an eagle over the new development – called Kingsgate, between the Wootton Road and the Dunmore Road.

Some of the houses are complete or nearing completion.

Others are just outlines in the snow.
Abingdon had stopped expanding after the large expansion through the 1940s-1980s, but now Abingdon is growing again.
