The second Choose Abingdon Local Excellence market took place today with 15 stalls. It is run much like a Farmers Market, so produce needs to be local. This new Saturday Market will be quarterly.

There tend to be quite a few free samples at these markets, like bits of cheese, and sips of beer. This group of cyclists are trying out an Oxfordshire brew.

This family farm from near Wallingford make sausages from their own pigs and were selling them cooked in buns.

Tree in Need of a Caption

Pudsey was in Abingdon today collecting money. Tomorrow (Friday) is the big day when much of the BBC helps to raise money for Children in Need.
(Behind him Poundland was doing a roaring first day of trade.)

Meanwhile a Christmas Tree has become a topic of much conversation since it appeared yesterday. A replacement is to be sent by the supplier, but before that happens I feel the tree is in need of a fitting caption… One Pound to Children in Need for each good one. Be generous with your good humour.
New Saturday Local Excellence Market

The first quarter-yearly Local excellence Market was on the Market Place today. It has food, drink, and crafts and is sponsored by Choose Abingdon and the Abingdon Carbon Cutters.

There were good crowds whenever I went by. People were also attracted into town by the Craft Fair – also on this weekend at the Old Abbey Buildings
Against Breast Cancer – 2nd Annual Day of Pink

Against Breast Cancer, an Abingdon based charity, are funding research into a cure for breast cancer and created a great spectacle of pink in town today.

There were activities on the Market Place.

And a lot of shops had taken part by dressing their window in pink.

Some even dressed in pink as well.
