The Big Conversation Abingdon Roadshow – Wednesday 19 October

NHS
There are big changes in the way health services are to be delivered and Monica had to request that a Roadshow came to Abingdon as the second largest town in the county.

The NHS in Oxfordshire is calling on young people, parents, patients, carers and people who live and work in Oxfordshire to have their say on how health care is delivered. They are seeking your views on how local GP, community and hospital services should develop so that services are of high quality, closer to home, more convenient with better access and can overcome a £200m funding gap by 2020/21.

The event will be a ‘drop in’ style and staff will be available to have an informal chat with you to share ideas on how NHS services in Oxfordshire can deliver high quality care now and in the future. The Big Conversation Abingdon Roadshow will be held on Wednesday 19 October 9.30am to 4pm – Abingdon Community FreeSpace Shop, Bury Street (opposite H. Samuel).

Staff will be available to answer your questions between 10am and 2pm, outside of those times please feel free to pop in and pick up some information.

New Jeweller and rumour of a new Estate Agent

Sunday Morning
What was a shoe shop for children, next to Throwing Buns, is to become a Jeweller. And I hear from Peter that the guitar shop in Stert Street will become an Estate Agents.

There is a town council meeting on 5th October which I cannot attend. I expect they will be making progress on the Guildhall and the Local Area Plan.

I’ll be at Preston Road Community Centre where we have the monthly committee meeting. So if anybody can make it to the town council to write a report that would be good. It is 7 pm in the Roysse Room.

From Cyclists to Caravanners on a Sunday Morning

Sunday Morning
Cyclists were gathering on Abingdon Market Place.
Sunday Morning
Reflections on the River Thames were crystal clear.
Sunday Morning
At St Helen’s Church the 8.00 am Holy Communion was already underway – the first of 3 Sunday services.
Sunday Morning
Fishing had been going fairly well until the first narrow boat appeared, followed by a gaggle of geese who insisted that this was just the spot they wanted to be.
Sunday Morning
Conkers were falling. A couple of tents could be seen near the trees and bushes.
Sunday Morning
On the other side, on the dewy grass of Abingdon Vale Cricket Club, a caravan club had come to visit.

2016 has been a good season and in 2017 caravanners will be able to watch Abingdon Vale playing in Division 1. Abingdon Vale Cricket Club have been promoted.
