Miu Beautique

Country Market Craft
The Miu Beautique had their grand opening on 8th June with special offers. They are the latest nail salon in Abingdon, and are located in the the premises previously run by the Ha Noi Cafe.

I did wonder why there so many nail salons set up in Abingdon. According to an old Financial Times article‘The confluence of low start-up costs and the popularity of nail fashions has led a diverse group of entrepreneurs to venture into nail salons.’

‘Nail bars expand by continuously innovating to attract repeat customers: “In nails you can be more outrageous than with cosmetics on your face.”

Country Market Craft, Book Signings, and Rainbow Picnic

Country Market Craft
The Abingdon Country Market was at the Salvation Army in West St Helen Street today, and featured, as usual, the colourful craft stalls.
Book Signing
There were two book signing in town today. At The Bookstore two local ladies were in love with the same man and they both wrote their diaries – mostly about him. He was a musician, and all this happened in the 1960s. The diaries are now revealed, and published in a novel as ‘Only One Woman’.
Book Signing
At Mostly Books, former co-owner, Nicki Thornton, was signing books. She is now the author of ‘The Last-Chance Hotel’, winner of The Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition. There will be another piece about Nicki’s book later this month.
Rainbow Picnic
Meanwhile on the Market Place a picnic started at around 3:30pm.
Rainbow Picnic
It could be the start of another great Abingdon Tradition – Rainbow Picnics on the Market Place.
