Sunday 7th July will see the return of a dedicated Abingdon Works Car Show to Rye Farm Meadow, just the other side of the River Thames from Abingdon.
In recent years, I believe, the show has been a part of the Abingdon Air and Country Show. So thanks to generous sponsorship, and the help of the The Abingdon Rotary Club, it takes centre stage.
The objective of the Show is to showcase cars built at the MG Factory in the town. There will be a funfair, local craft stalls, catering and a beer tent.
Cars will be able to drive round the old factory test route, a journey Abingdon MGs, built between 1932 and 1980, will have made before.

What a shame that the factory closed in Abingdon. Together with the factory there was a good M G social club off Caldicott Road and a sports ground. Gone are the days when factories had a lot of amenities for the workers. There was more of a community feeling then. It is the same up North. When the industry went all the community spirit went also with the working mens clubs and for the miners the miners welfare clubs. It is a worse society for it.
Fantastic!! Will bring along our MG Midget…
If the weathers good she might let you take her top off Jonny
