Flags have been posted all around the town centre.
Unlike 2012 there is no obvious reason for such an exuberant celebration. But Spring has finally sprung. Maybe that is enough.
The difference from the flags used in 2012 is that there are many green Abingdon flags among the Union Jacks. So it could be another way to promote the town.
There will also be a rerun of Music in the Park. Like 2012, the jubilee year, armbands can be purchased for £5 for adults and £2 for 5-17 year old. Under 5s go free.
On the bill are: Prisoners of Katrina, Green Onions (Blues Brothers Tribute Band) and Abingdon Town Band performing the Proms with a grand firework finale. There will also be two individual artists – Michael Buble/Bruno Mars tribute act and Elkie who will be covering popular songs.
If you want to be there, don’t be disappointed, get one sooner rather than later.
Seems to be most popular at the moment, ‘Tribute Acts’, shame really. Nobody seems confident to develop their own voice/act.
Perhaps the flags are for the St Georges Day Parade on Sunday??
Hopefully not Martin as they are union flags not St. Georges crosses.
I agree thats its good to here some fresh talent with new material ( skittle alley @ the stocks & legion are good for local bands playing their own material ) but at a big gig like music in the park with a broad range people attending i think its good to have something we are all familier with. That way there is more chance of people getting up for a dance together thus creating a greater atmospher. Well thats my view anyway…
Does anyone know where to get an Abingdon flag from? Is there a shop in town that sells them?
The flags look great, really cheers up the town!
I think the flags have been put up to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Queens Coronation.
I would like the flags to stay permanently.
is this the arms of St. Edmund? I think we should be told!
Can anyone explain the origin of the green flag and what its symbols mean?
Did anyone figure out if there is a way I can buy an Abingdon flag?
