Blog Action Day is where lots of bloggers worldwide follow the same theme. In 2012 that is The Power of We.
I could think of lots of Abingdon community groups which make a big difference, and examples of People Power. Then last night I got sent these pictures showing young people in the Basketball area in Southern Town Park doing a community mural.
Together with the help of a graffiti artist they were improving on the graffiti that had been there before, making it a more friendly place. The graffiti artist first came to work with the young people a few weeks back to work up a design.
PCSOs and the Vineyard Church, who run a youth club in South Abingdon, were also involved making this happen.
Loved the story! The Power of We, especially if it’s the power of young people, can really do miracles. The graffiti is great and colourful, I’m sure it is an excellent way of demonstrating the power of unity! I also wrote about it here: http://olenaursu.wordpress.com/2012/10/12/discover-the-power-of-we/
Fantastic. A big thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen. And a big round of applause for the young people who painted the mural – brilliant work; I love it.
Love the community mural! I’m based just up the river in Oxford so will check it out next time I’m down Abingdon way! I submitted a blog for Blog Action Day too (maybe not one of my best, but a worthy cause) – and it’s been great to browse the range of submissions and interpretations of this year’s theme. Good on you!
